Using several geochemical methods, the contributions investigate the genesis of the deposits, the characteristics of the precipitating waters and the relationship between carbonates and the geological\/tectonic settings, and the use of travertine as a paleoclimate record or as an indicator of geothermometric sequences, using the Mg\/Ca ratio.
