Born in 1920 in a village in\u003cbr\u003eRajasthan, he became a monk at the age of ten. He got his\u003cbr\u003eeducation under the guidance of Acharya Shree Tulsi, who\u003cbr\u003elaunched the Anuvrat Movement in 1949 to rid the world\u003cbr\u003eof violence and hatred and free religion from sectarianism.\u003cbr\u003eAcharya Mahapragya was a prolifi c writer and has been\u003cbr\u003ecalled a 'modern Vivekananda'. He traversed more than\u003cbr\u003e1,00,000 km on foot and visited 10,000 villages to spread\u003cbr\u003ethe message of non-violence. To this purpose, he embarked\u003cbr\u003eon an Ahimsa Yatra in 2001. He was honoured with the\u003cbr\u003eCommunal Harmony Award in 2004 for his contribution in\u003cbr\u003ethis fi eld.
