by Suzanne L. Noel (Author)
Facing The Unthinkable collects the resources Suzanne L. Noel used to face and survive the unthinkable: the sexual abuse of her son by his own father, her partner of 11 years. It tells the story of her soul-shattering discovery and how she managed to walk through protecting her son and going to court. It also tells her own story of childhood sexual abuse, how that betrayal of love and trust led her down many a twisted road. Finally, this book shows the emotional consequences of her codependency with sex-addicted persons. Thus, it covers three sides of the dysfunctional triangle of abuse in her life. In a way, then, it is about surviving sexual abuse in general. But its main intent is to help parents find the inner power to face and survive their child's abuse. Her story reveals how healing and recovery are possible once we ask for help to navigate through the treacherous waters of facing and surviving the unthinkable.
