Author Biography
Elaine spent the majority of her life in NJ, but after one too many snowstorms, she moved to sunny Florida. Not having to shovel snow has given her time to put together a book about the Edward S. Curtis collection she inherited from her grandfather, Frank Donohue. Frank worked for Mr. Curtis, a noted photographer of North American Indians, in the early 1900s. During this time he put together an unusual collection of Curtis works including two Volumes, photos printed on various types of experimental paper and lantern slides that were used by Curtis himself, during his stereoptic presentations. As a child, Elaine spent many hours looking at the collection and thinking about the grandfather that passed away before she was born. This book is her attempt at sharing the collection, she loves, with the world.
