The American psychotherapist Will Schutz described her as "a courageous pioneer, a warm and sensitive human being."
He was referring to Dr Ida Rolf, the founder of Structural Integration.
She recognised the central importance of the body's fascia and developed a method of working with the fascia to influence the body's internal tension patterns in such a way that the body and gravity come into alignment and the quality of movement improves.
