Author Biography
Liza Frenette is a writer who has won state and national awards as an author and journalist. Her first children's novel, Soft Shoulders, was inspired by her daughter, Jasmine, and won a national first place award from The Writer's Voice. She has published photographs and written thousands of articles for newspapers, magazines and online organizations, including Reader's Digest, Adirondack Life Magazine, Adirondack Explorer, and Hudson Valley Magazine. Liza earned a journalism degree from the State University of New York at Morrisville, and then a bachelor's degree in English with a journalism minor at the University at Albany, followed by a master's degree in English in the creative writing program at the University at Albany. She worked 20 years as faculty editor for the New York State Young Writer's Summer Institute at Silver Bay and then Skidmore College. She has published poetry in anthologies such as True North, and has also published the children's novels Dangerous Falls Ahead and Dead End. She is a former reporter for the Tupper Lake Press, Adirondack Daily Enterprise, Press-Republican, The Voice and NYSUT United.
