by Jp Herman (Author)
Hunter J. Patrick would rather die than hide
the truth from view. He was a First Amendment
warrior who found himself in a battle with corrupt
forces intent upon shaping the world to fit their
own personal needs. It was the mid-1980's, a time
when newspapers grinded out story after story about
the people and events of their communities. Stories of
crimes, courts, government and business dealings
were regular fare in most newspapers. Hunter J. Patrick,
top editor of the Baytown Daily Tribune, believed in
telling the community the truth about itself. If you were
"in the news" in Baytown, you were treated the same as
everyone else, a simple rule that put Hunter in conflict
with some rich and powerful Baytown citizens. It was
a wicked confrontation and Hunter refused to back
down. He'd be damned if he'd let the truth be replaced
by lies during his watch.
