He left home at 17 to train as a teacher and later taught in many parts of the state including Karratha, Exmouth, Geraldton, and Kalgoorlie. This marked the beginning of a long career in education that saw him become a principal and then a Director in areas as diverse as student behavior and wellbeing, leadership, innovation, reform, and strategy. David is a Churchill Fellow and continues to work in the area of public policy and executive coaching.
