Lee dedicated himself the advancement of farming through the diversification of crops and the use of scientific methods. He was the editor of both the \u003ci\u003eGenesse Farmer\u003c\/i\u003e and the \u003ci\u003eSouthern Cultivator\u003c\/i\u003e and wrote numerous articles about agricultural chemistry. Lee was appointed the first professor of agriculture at the University of Georgia, which solidified his importance in the agricultural world.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eAuthor Biography\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eE. MERTON COULTER came to the University of Georgia as an associate professor in 1919; he was named an emeritus professor of history in 1958 and continued to work on campus until his death in 1981. During his career, he wrote or edited more than thirty books and his contributions to periodicals were extensive.
