Internationally, however, there have been few publications on this subject. \u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eThis book closes this gap by investigating \u003cem\u003eʿışḳ\u003c\/em\u003e in different genres and contexts. Whereas the terms \u003cem\u003eḥubb\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003emaḥabbet\u003c\/em\u003e point to comfort and care, the term \u003cem\u003eʿışḳ\u003c\/em\u003e denotes passionate love; often laced with mystical connotations. Through this lens we show that Ottoman lyrical realities transgressed the rules, burgeoning beyond conventional settings and giving voice to vivid creativity.
