by Leola D. Smith (Author)
The purpose of my books is to bring awareness to the deaf and hard of hearing community throughout the world. This will help us and others to understand the value of what it's like to have this type of social disability. There are things that drive us to want to do better in life, but there are people unwilling to give us opportunities to utilize our skills and apply our mindsets. It's like they push us to the side as if we are invisible just to make life easier for themselves. That's not how life works. It is also very important to be familiar with the laws and policies toward discrimination in order to protect ourselves. We must know our rights and enforce the law when people try to downgrade us.We are not asking for sympathy. We are simply asking for respect, an opportunity to fulfill our destinies, and the same privileges that others are receiving.
Author Biography
I'm a humble and joyful person. I have accomplished a few things with this unique gift that was provided by God and my ancestors. And with this unique gift, I have so much confidence, faith, and good intentions to teach others what life is like being not only disabled but also being unique. I have obtained a BA degree in Social Work and a MA degree in Psychology. I sought after both degrees because it's my passion to assist others with social issues and help them to improve their livelihood. There are so many things to do to give a helping hand. Whilst I may stumble across my expedition, I have confidence that I will finish. As a Queen, I will always finish strong with all my might and power. I wear my crown with pride and beauty. You know who you are, and you must be encouraged for the things you do. Cherish and arise from it. The defeated can be undefeated.
