Buried Pennies is Peter Olevnik's second poetry collection, comprising elegies on time and place and memories. His first book, an anthology of poems and stories titled Look Homeward Asheville (Grateful Steps, 2009), was nominated for the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award.
Author Biography
Peter Olevnik grew up in Fort Wayne, a former manufacturing center at the confluence of three rivers in northeastern Indiana. He spent most of his working years as a university librarian in Illinois and New York, receiving his PhD at the State University of NY at Buffalo."Buried Pennies" is his second book of poetry.Peter's love of writing is reflected in his role as facilitator, and participant, in the annual "Poetry Sunday" celebration of poems presented by members of the Unitarian-Universalist Congregation of Asheville, and in his role in establishing the continuing "Poetry Lovers" participant gathering at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, University of North Carolina Asheville. Peter is also an accomplished painter and portraitist, having shown his works in galleries and exhibitions in several states including Illinois, Indiana, New York, and North Carolina.Since retirement, Peter and his wife, Judy, have made their home in Asheville, North Carolina.
