Toker is Professor of the History of Art and Architecture at the University of Pittsburgh and a former Guggenheim Fellow. His books include Fallingwater Rising: Frank Lloyd Wright, E. J. Kaufmann, and America's Most Extraordinary House and Pittsburgh, An Urban Portrait. His first book, The Church of Notre-Dame in Montreal, was awarded the Hitchcock Book Award, granted annually by the Society of Architectural Historians for the best new book published in the previous two years by a North American author.
