by Rashid Ansumana (Author), Osman M. Bah (Author)
The resources of nature are under siege from anthropogenic activities exacerbated by rapid global population growth. Wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems but they are fast becoming the most threatened habitats and the backlash of such a trend is catastrophic to humanity. The preference of biological assessment over chemical assessment is due to the the advantage that the former has in revealing ecological integrity values of wetlands. Phytoremediation expecially with Vetiveria zizanoides is promising for wetland reclamation and is inferior to no other option. This pathway is promising, cheaper and sustainable.
