Traditional\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003epractices of biomass waste management were applied, but not necessarily in a\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003esophisticated and efficient way, and included everything from agricultural activities\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eto food production, animal feed, natural fiber separation, and processing\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof forest wood. The modern bioeconomy sector, however, includes new circular\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eeconomy energy and materials streams of added-value products, such as\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003egaseous, liquid and solid biofuels and bioenergy generation routes, and biochar\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eproduction, along with all the previously mentioned traditional products emerging\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003efrom the bioeconomy.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis Special Issue includes some of the latest bioenergy and biochar advancements\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eand their incorporation into a bioeconomy in transition. It focuses on\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003enature, properties, upgrading, and bioenergy generation processes from all types\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof biomass waste and biochars originating from biomass waste.
