This textbook is for the undergraduate and the first year graduate students in Civil Engineering Departments. The book is used in teaching three courses in structural analysis. The book offers the classical and modern matrix methods for the analysis of the statically determinate and statically indeterminate structures. The book enables the student to understand the topics of the three courses by including 180 examples solved by different methods. This will enable the student to understand the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
Author Biography
Mohamed A. M. Abdel-Rohman, is a Professor of civil engineering at Kuwait University. He received his B.Sc. from Cairo University in 1972, Master and Ph.D. degrees from University of Waterloo, Canada, in 1976 and 1979, respectively. A researcher and one of the pioneers in the area of structural control. Co-authored "Control of Structures" with H. H. Leipholz by Martinus-Nijhoff Publishers, Boston, in 1986. Authored "Control of Nonlinear Oscillations in Civil Structures" published by Kuwait University in 1992 and "Structural Analysis" by Dar-Anashr for Universities, Cairo, in 1998. Received the Engineering Sciences award in 1984 from Abdul-Hameed Shoman Foundation, Jordan, the Distinguished Researcher award from the College of Engineering and Petroleum, Kuwait University in 1996 and 2007, and the Professional Achievement award from ACI-Kuwait Chapter in 2009.
