At some point later, it occurred to me that my mother wasn't singing anymore. It seemed that she had lost her joy and exuberance. I had moved away from my country of birth and was going through my struggles. I had strong Christian faith so I didn't have to go through the pain that she did. I wished I could have been close to her to have said some encouraging words to help her. Failing to do that, the poem was supposed to have been read to her, but that also did not happen.
