by Faidra Washington (Author)
Have you ever been in love to the point that you lost yourself? Loved so hard that everyone around you could see what that "love" was doing to you, except you? No matter what he's done, with a little time and gifts you are back at square one. All that comes with the territory of being a ride or die chick, right? This is what happens when loving them starts hurting you, but you are too invested to let it go. This was the reality of Dee. She had devoted herself to this relationship, only to be left puzzled. As she stood in front of a judge during sentencing wondering how she got there, she finally could see what everyone else could see. She was a college student, who's life would change forever. Being raised by her grandparents and witnessing their share of relational issues, she thought that loving someone consisted of staying and working it out by any means necessary. The real fight began upon her release from prison. Can you imagine completing hundreds of applications and no one calls because you have checked a box confirming you have been convicted of a crime? Ultimately, the crime was love. Dee fights to stand strong as she learns to persevere through trials and become triumphant although the odds were stacked against her.
Author Biography
Faidra is a speaker and author. She's a soldier who fights with perseverance, faith and forgiveness and who's passionate about helping others persevere for a more fulfilled life. Faidra truly believes that no matter what, God can make your crooked paths straight. She persevered- and holds a MBA in Public Administration and a BS in Psychology. She is originally from Mississippi, and currently resides in Dallas, Texas. We often are ashamed of things that happen in life that we allow it to keep us in bondage such as, hurt from a bad relationship, not being able to forgive yourself for a bad decision made years ago, or not being able to forgive others. Faidra's pain pushed her into her passion of helping those with a similar journey. As Founder of Freedom Fulfillment Transformational Services, she is able to help ex-offenders secure stable employment so they may successfully re-enter society as productive citizens. No one is perfect, and life is so much better when you let go, walk in your truth, and PERSEVERE. "I decided to share my story because there a lot of young ladies who need a reminder to love themselves first and foremost. The wrong relationship could cost them their lives, literally. Most importantly, I want people to know that a prison sentence is not a death sentence. Go to school, learn a trade and continue to dream. Yes, the journey is hard, and you may have to crawl before you can walk, but the will to persevere is often the difference between failure and success!"
