His work inspired him to write \u003ci\u003eA Boy Named Thomas\u003c\/i\u003e, which explores the thorny issues of immigration and bigotry through the eyes of one young boy.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eWashle received his bachelor's degree in history at the University of Hawaii.
