Imagine being locked in your bathroom for 30 days. No control of the heat nor air, no windows, bathtub or any of the things you'd associate with a typical bathroom. All you have is your sink, the toilet, and a slab of concrete. On top of that slab is a "mattress" as thin as a ream of typing paper and just as hard. Now Imagine having a pen and a few scraps of paper that are actually old envelopes opened up. What would you do? Sleep, think, cry, laugh, YELL? Well, I did all those things. But I also wrote...Sentenced to 30 years in State Prison at the age of 19, for armed robbery and shooting a police officer, my life had taken a turn for the worst. Freedom had become a thing of the past, and controlled movement became the norm.It was during this dark comma (not period) in my life that I found the light that would illuminate my cell and free me long before I was released from prison. It was during this time that I found my voice and was granted the justice I longed for...Poetic Justice. The poems within this volume are of an early nature or shall I say during the juvenile years of my prison sentence. Poems of hurt and hope, pain and promise, love, and loss create somewhat of a journey for the reader to experience in real time. Although each is distinct and stands firmly on its own, collectively my poems tell the story of a seemingly lost soul attempting to find itself.
