"This island is home to a great hairy beast! With humongous feet and gigantic teeth. He eats with his toes while having his feast."
The Wugamaloo is a FUN & EASY READ picture book with 37 pages, intended for children ages 4-8.
The story follows Bud, a kid from outer space who crash-lands on a mysterious island and meets Amy, a character inspired by Amelia Earhart. Amy becomes a mother figure to Bud as they navigate survival on the island, where they encounter the Wugamaloo, a friendly Bigfoot-like creature, and Jessie, a Loch Ness Monster-like creature. The four of them band together to find a way for Amy to return home but ultimately decide to stay on the island together as a family. Thus, the once-lost characters discover belonging and love in each other.
The central theme of The Wugamaloo explores facing your biggest fears while relying on others, conveying a heartfelt message about finding home and support. Each character steps outside their comfort zone to accept others far different than themselves, build trust, and work toward a common goal.
