Gabriel Alberto Ferrer Ruiz nació en Maontería, Colombia. Es profesor titular de la Universidad del Atlántico en Barranquilla, Colombia y fundador del Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Literarias del Caribe y de la revista Cuadernos de Literatura del Caribe e Hispanoamerica. Se doctoró en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Obtuvo un MA en el Instituto Caro y Cuervo, Bogotá y un MA en teología de Lauren University (Miami, Florida). Libros publicados: Etnoliteratura wayuu: estudios críticos y selección de textos y La poética de Luis Carlos López, además de numerosos artículos publicados en revistas especializadas. Es autor de los poemarios Veredas y otros poemas, Sinuario y Festejos.
