by Peter Boshoff (Author), Heather Boshoff (Brooks) (Author), William Brooks (Author)
a NEW PUBLICATION of the day to day diary of an infantry private in the trenches during the Great War for Civilisation, August 1914 to November 1918, in commemoration of the centenary of World War I A true objective story by Private William Brooks. Complemented by official narratives and newspaper articles of the time. Maps and some photographs in public domain. Bearing in mind that there were rest periods, leave periods and that he could only be at one place in a small part of the line, this narrative reflects the nature of the war on the Western Front, warts and all.
Author Biography
Biography of the editor. Peter Boshoff, the eldest of five sons was born in 1943 and brought up in the Pretoria district, Transvaal, South Africa. After school he attended the South African Air Force Gymnasium. Later he studied medicine and qualified in 1968. In his training he was taught never to rely on second hand knowledge but to investigate and try out everything before committing himself. He became a general medical practitioner, later employed by Anglo American Corporation. In 1994 he was co-author in a research article on familial non-polyposis cancer of the colon, compiling the family tree of the family involved. This whetted his appetite for writing. Unfortunately work commitments did not allow enough time to start writing until after his retirement. "The truth is out there, you just have to separate the wheat from the chaff."
